Q: I’m building my first motor, a Ford 302 in a 69 Mustang. What heads should I use?
I’m building my first motor, a 302 Windsor to go in a 1969 Mustang. So far I have a Comp Cams XTreme energy .262 duration, Holley Street Avenger 600cfm, Weiand Stealth manifold, long tube hooker headers, and 2.5 inch dual exhaust… along with the usual new lifters, etc. What heads would you recommend? Is aluminum superior to steel?
The car will be a street car. My goal is to have about 300 horses. I want it to sound good and be powerful enough to smoke the tires, but it will be used for summer driving / cruising, not racing.
What’s the difference between Edelbrock’s Performer and Performer RPM heads?
FYI – I’m in Canada… in a region without vehicle inspections or emissions testing.
A: That’s a good size cam, I assume your going naturally aspirated? I would go with a 195 or a 205 head to provide good low end torque and mid-range power for the street. make sure you use a push-rod checker when you install the heads and make sure the valve springs work with the cam. The RPm heads have a different range as far as higher RPM’s either head would work ok aluminum heads weigh less so a little weight off the engine and easier to lift. You should be able to hit 300hp with that set up just tune the carb and set the timing make sure you degree the cam as well.
Q: what engine shoul I put in a 69 coupe mustang?
i just bought a 69 coupe musatng and want to make it an extreme muscle car that I will be using for everyday use. I want to only put ford parts into it no chevy or anything else . so if anyone wants to help me with some ideas to make this car BAD? PLEASE HELP!
any performance tips for max horse power.
A: 351 Clev would be a good engine to keep the horse power up and the weight down ,but if you can get your hands on one the 429 Cobra Jet was a killer engine that came stock in this car.It is 60 lbs more than the Clev. but put out more power
Clev put out 300 horses with 310 torque while the 429 was 390 horses and 375 torque that stock both have easy add on for much more power. So if your in to corners go for the Cleven or for driving straight the 429 CJ
Q: why do people think your spoiled if you drive a nice Car?
all of my sophmore year of high school i wanted a car..any car i had my lisence, i brang my grades up to b’s and c averages and some a’s..that is really good for me sense i have always had trouble in school and i have adhd. anyhow i even tried getting a job in the summer but due to the economy i couldnt find a job nor could of any of my freinds..know this year my dad gave me his Cadillac Cts V, a beautiful gorgeous car that is i belive amazing engingering. My Dad has a truck for our ranch in the country.. and my mom drives a range rover and we have a old porsche that me and my dad plan to fix up oneday..my dad bought a used 2006 corvette c6 and also has a 1969 ford mustang that we are building up thats his he inerited that car from his dad..and we have a mercedes sl 550
none the less i had to work all year to bring up my grades
i didnt break the law of really anything
i listend helped my parents around the house and had to try to find a job
i even saved up enough money to pay my insurance for the first 7 months
For all my hard work
and i just recently got a job for god sakes it took forever but i got one.. i have been drivning the cts v with its 5.7 liter ls6 supercharged v8 sense christmas. i am know a junior and realize its a really expnsive car at about $ 40,000 to sell it used or a little less.. BUT i do not think i am spolied i try hard in school and i get distracted easily with school work..but when it comes to driving i drive perfectly fine and i love driving, driving for me is a serious mater. i wash my car almost every week or 2 and i never speed. my Dad got a speending ticket 2 weeks after having his corvette. and i havent had any tickets or anything sense i have been driving
SO ITS BS
to call people spolied or say they do not deseve something
i know a few kids at my school who have mustangs. their is a kid with a 69 ford mustang mach 1 with a 7.0 liter 428 cobra jet engine. its easily the fastest car at school next to my car.
but what i do not understand is how people who are jealous can judge and down talk? espically about people they do not know.. I do however understand that some kids at my school with nice cars and crappy cars abuse driving, they speed, they race, they smoke pot during lunch all the time.. i mean I know kids with nice cars who abuse their cars and do not know anything about cars’, car engines or much of anything and it goes the same for kids with crappy cars..this extends both ways
By the way i do none of that
sure i smoke pot but i dont hot box my car all the time and get drunk and drive nor do i allow smoking in my car..and i actually know about my car, its power to weight ratio, its suspensio, its horespower, its torque, its engine its overall bore and stoke. i know cars and cars are a passion for me
A: Probably because a lot of kids parents give them cars with no strings attached.
The deal with my car was that 1) I had to pay my folks back for it 2) all maintenance, gas, insurance, et. c. I had to pay for. I am a more responsible person for that. My sister had no requirements for her to have a car. She is now 22. She had my dads old car and destroyed it, so he bought her a brand new Scion. She does not pay for gas, insurance or a car note, and she has a job making minimum wage at the local Rite Aid, and she never holds a job for more than 6 months or so. When she is finally cut off she will have no sense of responsibility. I know what it is to buy a car and keep it up, so I try to keep mine in one piece! You are very lucky because even though you were unable to find a job your parents know that you are working towards a car, and you’re not going to give up.
Don’t listen to what these other kids are saying. If you are responsible with your vehicle you will have it for many, many years. Take pride in the fact that your parents are teaching you how to be responsible and are willing to help you out–and you get an awesome car out of it!
Q: WHat should i do? Cut LOsses? fix and leave? Fix classic and Hope to leave?
I Bought a used car for 400. I was told what was wrong with it and i put 1400. into it. I did most of the labor and had it double checked. It Overheats at around 40 miles and will travel 40 more with the heater on. I Havent had a job in three months and am not getting along with roomates. I have 1200. dollars left with no Sources of income left. and this can fix Almost any problem with my truck. Should i try another used car and cut my losses or fix car and be broke ? ( im looking for work and thinking about leaving to our Unused family home in texas. i live in a small town in kansas and need reliable transportation to commute. i feel like im running out of options and patience. I hate borrowing a truck for every trip out of my house. i trust my truck and hate to risk the engine. i can fix my classic car pretty cheaply ($200) and dont want to abandon it. but i would need to insure it in this state and i know itll run but am unsure for how long.I had it running last year and its radiator broke before i could haul it to ks. Other than that the tail lights and head lights short out. I put 3400 total into it so far. i can leave one with a family member. What do you think i should Do? Looking for advice in ks. ANY IS HELPFUL ( THE TRUCK IS AN 82 chevy s10 manual 1.9 L V- 4 and the classic is a 69 Ford Mustang V-8 with a 289 eldenbrock performer and 4 Barrel carb with a decent body and Bad electical wiring.four new tires. I love the car but if it breaks i cant afford to put too much more into it now and would hate to abandon it down the road or have it break and lose job if it becomes unreliable.
A: Sounds like it needs a head gasket. That should be a pretty easy, and cheap job on an 82 s10. It’s up to you.
Q: What upgrades can i do to make my Mustang quieter?
So i have a 2002 Ford Mustang w/ exactly 69,500 miles as of today. But i want it to be quieter(like on the road) and improve the performance w/o spending hundreds of dollars. For instance, is there ANYTHING i can do so that the doors close more quieter? i want it to sound like a luxury car, not some old car. And also, my windows on both the passenger’s & driver’s side make a LOUD squeaking noise & its embarrassing. it’s almost like the friction against the rubber things cause it. & how do i replace the weather strip; will that help to reduce noise? & also i could use some tips on performance increase. Thx yall!
Ok, so by hundreds of dollars i mean i don’t wanna spend an extra 10 grand type things. So if your answer doesn’t help me or w/e then just shut up. I don’t give a crap what your comment is about the fact i’m trying to save money. That just really pisses me off(talking about my first answer) At least i’m not one of those idiots who spend thousands and thousands of dollars & not able to pay it back!!!!!! That’s just real immature of you.
A: Wow, people always find something to complain about. “W/o spending hundreds of dollars”? Do you expect to significantly change the driving characteristics of a car for $50 dollars?
Q: Restoring a 60’s Mustang?
First things first, I am in no position to be buying a car, but I am saving, so eventually, I’ll have something in the bank. Today I saw a ‘65 mustang for 12,500, and it had 85,000 km on it. I don’t plan on buying it at all, but is that a good deal? Link: http://autotrader.ca/used_cars_Cars_details/PORT+COLBORNE_Ontario_1965_FORD_MUSTANG+_1882798.html?srcid=4828371&source=27&pgno=1&srt=1&CompanyID=ON20071219111521289&r=ontario
But my question is regarding how much money it would take to restore a car like this? A mustang from about ‘65 to ‘69 in particular. I don’t want the car to be a showstopper, I don’t need it to be in any shows whatsoever. All I want and need is a car that runs well and one that I don’t need to worry about it breaking down (after restoration). It would be the kind of car that gets daily use. Is this even possible?
I just love the old school mustangs, and in my heart of hearts, it is really the only car that I truly want. Lamborghini’s are nice, Audi’s are cool, but nothing compares to a mustang.
So how much would it cost?
A: awsome! After several years of being in love with the 69 mustang fastback, last year i decided to buy one. In no way was it a showroom car however with some nice paint and some quick fixes I now bring it to shows and it does very good! It was originally posted for 13,000 and i brought them down to 9500. The thing is type of car can either be evaluated at 1000 or 100,000. You need to do alot of your own inspections to see if your getting a good deal.
here are some quick things you should be looking at…these factors determine how much the car is worth.
ORIGINALITY – parts? chrome? original engine? original anyhting? paper work?
BODY- bondo? steel? warping? cracks? holes? rust?
PAINT- chipped? cheap? faded? scratched? swirls?
UNDERCARRIAGE – rust? holes?
ENGINE – original? chromed parts? miles? oil? radiator?
TRANSMISSION – automatic? manual? slipping? 3,4,5,6 speed?
INTERIOR- upholstry? cracks? moldy? bad smell? rips?
HISTORY – accidents? maintnance? regular oil changes?
SAFETY – mirrors? lights? steering? breaks? horn? electronics?
and also take your time, There are cars like this that pop up everywhere, bring a mechanic bring an auto appraiser… spend the extra few bucks to make sure your not getting any suprises!
if all goes well, have fun with it…just remeber there will always be something you need to fix, so plan to spend over budget, especially in the first year or two when all your doing is thinking about the car..
and im not sure if you ment to do a quick retsoration or one over the years…but if you plan on just doing it all asap…plan to spend ALOT.
take care
good luck
Q: what muscle car would be a better project car?
i was thinking about starting my own project muscle car but i dont know what car to use…which of these would u pick or do u have any other pick?
1971 chevrolet monte carlo,
1970 dodge charger,
1967 or 69 ford mustang fastback,
1970 chevrolet chevelle,
1969 camaro SS,
1970 dodge challenger,
1990 ford mustang 5.0
1969 Pontiac GTO,
or do you have any ideas?
thanks
i forgot the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner
A: All of your suggestions are good prospects. It really depends on what you like best – personally, I like the ‘69 and ‘70 Mustang fastback (sportsroof per Ford). These are easily left stock or cloned into Boss or Mach 1 models.
Q: Am I gay or just confused?
I need to know whether I’m actually gay or just going through a weird time in my life right now. I’ll provide as much detail as a I can, along with the ages.
10-12) I was interested in girls
14-17 (present) I am interested in boys (Had sex with a boy at the beginning of my junior year in high school)
1) Girls do not turn me on in any form, but I do oftentimes judge their looks.
2) I am a conservative and wish to vote republican.
3) I am a Deist with Christian friends.
4) I have 2 Labrador Retrievers and I hate cats.
5) My favorite car is a 69′ Ford Mustang GT Fastback.
6) I have a ‘97 Nissan Pathfinder, I want a truck. (F150 or F250)
7) I smoke and drink heavily (I don’t know if this is a deciding factor or not…)
I used to be a criminal (at 15 years old, I robbed Harris Teeter during school hours for alcohol, but quit once I could potentially be arrested) and now I’m adamantly against it
9) I’m not sensitive emotionally unless someone cries, and I’m completely immune to women’s drama thanks to my mum crying on my shoulder about her issues when I was 12 and 13ish.
10) I work out 1-2 hours a day. I wear a speedo when I swim and when no one is looking!
11) I cook a LOT! (mostly grilling)
12) My favorite food item is the burger.
13) I have limited empathy for animals (I love my dogs with all my heart, but I’ll say “Oh, he’s gonna get hit” when I’m about to run over a squirrel – I’ll never swerve)
14) I wear boxers in public and boxer briefs in private.
15) I wear jeans/khaki shorts and polo T-shirts normally.
16) I think fashion trends are tacky, that’s why I don’t follow them.
17) I own 4 guns that I have payed for out of my own pocket.
18) I carry a pocket knife with me wherever I go. (And brass knuckles if they were legal)
If anyone else has anymore questions, just ask them and I’ll add additional details to my question.
Thanks!
You’d be surprised at how often the pocket knife comes in handy. When I’m out boating, I sometimes have to cut seaweed off the prop. I also use it to cut the packages of things after we get home, just so we don’t have to run upstairs to get a knife. When we’re fishing, sometimes we get the line hung up on marsh grass or on an oyster rake. If that happens, we have to cut the line and put another rig on.
I don’t really “check girls out.”
When I notice them, I’m quick to make a remark about their appearance. I’ve never had sex with a girl before though. I’ve always used my sexuality as an excuse to avoid going out with girls.
I have guns because they’re a good investment, they’re fun to shoot, and we live close to several bad neighborhoods/trailer parks. I’ve never hit an animal with my 97 pathfinder. I’m just saying, I don’t give a damn if I do hit it… I’m not going to swerve out of the road to hit an oncoming car or someone’s house to save the life of a squirrel dumb enough to run across the road.
By saying my favorite food is a burger, I’m pointing out the fact that I’m not a vegan.
A: Okay.
First of all, of those eighteen things you listed makes no difference to your sexual orientation. Of course it might help you choose some things over the other but that’s only because of society and what society things is best for a man and what’s best for a woman.
Plus following the stereotypes of a gay man isn’t really best to figure out your own sexual orientation.
I think you should try to think of all of the women in the world and try to visualise what you once thought was attractive or might still think it is?
If you truly and honestly feel physically attractive to her, then you might be straight or bi.
And that goes the same for men; do the same thing and try to figure it out but if that still doesn’t work maybe try make a list of all the things you find attractive about a man and the same for a woman.
And whichever one seems more might be best.
I don’t know. I tried to help; hope it helps you out somehow and if it doesn’t, sorry. ]]:
Good luck with finding your own balance!
