Q: How much would a completely restore 68 or 69 Mustang GT Fastback cost?
I’m looking to possibly buy a completely restored 68 or 69 Mustang GT Fastback, but I don’t want to get ripped off. What kind of price range should I be looking to spend? I was thinking $20k-$30k depending on the motor, etc. Is that about right?
A: Depends on the shape of the Mustang when the restoration first begins and just how involved the restoration is. If the car is stripped down to the last bolt and screw and reassembled, expect to pay much more than 20 or 30 grand.

Q: Help with the head unit and base system on a ‘69 mustang?
A guy I’ve been seeing has a ‘69 mustang, and I need to know a few things about getting him a head unit or base system for Christmas please, if you could help.
Some main points are the average cost of either, how easy the installation is, and any additional information you could provide.
A: The trouble is that installing a new audio system in an older car requires some alteration to the vehicle interior. A typical owner of a ‘69 Mustang would want to keep the interior as close as possible to factory condition. Before buying anything, you’ll want to be certain that he’s willing to make permanent changes to his classic car.
His vehicle most likely came with a “shaft” style AM radio, and a single speaker mounted in the middle of the dash. Your first technical problem will be the fact that there’s no such thing as a “shaft” CD player. To install an after-market CD player in the factory radio location, the dash opening would have to be cut out. Usually, suggesting such a thing to a ‘69 Mustang owner provokes a violent reaction. Also, installing a “stereo” head unit requires at least two speakers, while his vehicle has only one. Adding more speakers usually means cutting new mounting locations into the dash, doors, and/or rear deck.
If you were buying a sound system for a more modern vehicle, it would be a different story; but I’d suggest thinking of a different Christmas gift. For his Mustang, if he wants a sound system upgrade, he really needs to be involved in planning the system and selecting the components. Any audio installation in a vehicle that old would be considered a “custom” installation, so he’d also want to consult with an audio installation shop that specializes in that kind of job.
Q: How much is a 69′ Ford Mustang Gas cap worth?
I found a old Ford Mustang gas cap in my Dads Garage its for a 69 Mustang im not if its worth anything today but if anyone has any info on it, That would be major help.
A: Anywhere from $20. – $75. depending on it’s shape. NPD sells a reproduction 69 cap for $58.00 US, and an original used one in Grade A shape is always worth more than a reproduction.

Q: Replacing the Floor pan on a 69 Mustang?
What does it take to replace a floor pan on a 69 Mustang. I have a 69 Fastie lined up but it needs a new floor pan. What would it take to replace it? Is it just a bolt in operation or does it need to be welded.
A: This is a unibody car with no frame, in fact, the floor pans are a major part of the frame structure and therefore have to be welded in correctly to make the whole unit stable and safe..
Q: Easiest way to get a three point seatbelt in a 69 Mustang?
Restoring my grandpa’s old Mustang and I’m down to making it safer now. Ran into a few problems with putting in the seat belts, mainly getting them bolted down and through the floor..
Any suggestions?
A: they came with lap belts, so the holes are there, you just need the shoulder strap and may have to install a roll bar..
Q: How much would insurance be for a ‘69 mustang for a 17 year old with a 3.6 gpa?
Yeah, I really want a mustang but my parents are killing me about the insurance. So i want to find out how much it really is so I can tell them if i can pay for it or not. I really want this car, I know alot about cars so i’m not an idiot , i know what i’m doing. I just need to know. Thanks alot.
A: Be prepared to pay at least $1,200.00 every six months, if not more — and that’s IF your parents will have you added to their policy. If not, be prepared to pay at least $2,000.00 every six months. Why? Two reasons: (1) A 1969 Mustang is a sports car, and insurance for sports cars costs more than any other vehicle. (2) You’re only 17, which places you in the highest risk group for insurance purposes.
Q: Cost to repair 69 mustang rear end?
I own a 69 mustang, that when I drive, howls ridiculously loud.
I THINK it’s coming from the rear end, and I was wondering if anyone might know how much it might cost to repair?
A: Cost would vary on type of rear end, 8.5″ or 9″. Could be just a bad bearing on one of the axles causing the noise – maybe $75.
Q: Who would win in a race between a 69 mustang and a 72 baracuda?
Me and my boyfriend are having an argument on which car would win in a race. I think the mustang would win but he thinks the baracuda will win. Help him understand that the mustang would win over his stupid little baracuda!!!
A: Mustang Mach with 428 CJ 0-60- 5.7sec 1/4 mile 13.9 103
1972 Barracuda-0-60 8.5 sec 1/4 mile 16 sec
Yea 72= bad year for barracuda , the mustang would rape the cuda.
Q: Is it possible to put a GT500 engine into the ‘67, ‘68, or ‘69 mustang fastback?
I am going to be buying an older mustang soon. I would like to put the biggest engine I can into it. A friend of mine said the ‘67 fastback was the best choice. I dont know a lot about older mustangs yet. Im trying to find out the differences in the fastbacks from ‘67 to ‘69.
A: It is indeed possible since the GT500 WAS a ‘68-’69 bodystyle fastback, and since all available engine options for that model mustang use a standardized 4 bolt main mounting system. the changes to the mustang between ‘64 1/2- ‘69 were minor and mostly asthetic, these “body-style” changes occured as follows, 64 1/2- ‘65, then a change for ‘66- ‘67, and then again for ‘68- ‘69.
Q: What is the difference between a regular 69 mustang and a 69 mustang grande?
is it a trim package or what?
A: The Grande comes with a side of beans & rice.
