Q: 67 mustang and cougar parts?
I’m restoring a 67 Cougar Xr7 And I’ve use a lot of 67 Mustang parts for it. Now I’m in need of a Dash and I’m not sure if it well work, Dose any one Know if a 1967 Ford mustang Dash well pop in a 67 Mercury cougar?
I would like to know so I can order one or not
Many Thanks!
A: the cougars and mustangs used different dashes. The mustangs had the “scooped” inserts, while the cougars had a straight pad on them. If you swapped the whole dash frame and everything, it should work, and you will have something unique.
If you already have the frame and just need the cap, Mustangs Unlimited sells the cap for the Cougars. They also have a free Cougar catalog that I recommend.

Q: Is there a resource for determining the value of older used cars?
I have two cars I need to sell.
One is a 67 Ford Mustang in poor condition and the other is a 84 Ford Truck (no additional info, it’s a truck) in just fair condition. I can find plenty of resources for determining the value of restored vehicles but I’m having trouble finding something for cars that are heaps of junk.
Any help?
kelly blue book doesn’t go past 1990, but thanks.
A: Mannheim Gold Book is one source and the NADA classic guide is another. There is also the OCPG (Old car price guide) They give an idea what a car is worth but those prices are not set in stone. I have seen many cases where a car sold for a lot less than the book quoted. Actual condition and current market values have a lot of impact on what it would actually bring,
Q: Where can I find wiring diagrams for a 1968 Ford Mustang?
Could also use 65, 66, 67 diagrams to refer to.
Thx
A: MustangClassic.net has what you need. They have wiring diagrams for 1964-1968 Ford Mustangs.

Q: Where can I find out if “85 Ford 3N” is information that I can use to find a paint code?
I painted my 67 Mustang a medium-dark metallic blue in the late 80’s, and this is the only thing I have written on the body shop invoice.
A: “3N” is a paint code. This was used on the mid 80’s broncos.
3N is also Kia green, Toyota mahogany, and a Ford tractor!
Go to a body shop, or better yet, an automotive paint supply store. They will have code listings, as well as color books.
If you are trying to “spot repair” the car, beware. 20 year old paint can be hard to match. You may want to consider a total overspray.
Q: 1967 heads for a 289 ford will i need to change the valve seats to compensate for the fuel we use today.?
i just purchased 289 heads from a 67 mustang engine. will they be fine with the gas we use today
A: i assume the heads you purchased were used. not a new replacement high performance head. it would be a good idea to have a valve job done now. you should send the cylinder heads to a machine shop and have them install “hardened” valve seats as part of the machine work they will do.
Q: Ford Fairlane, done up “Eleanor” style. Yay, or Nay?
Heres a question that’s sure to get some varying opinions from all of you… I’ve been tossing around the idea of turning a 4-door (or 2-door) 66/67 Ford Fairlane into a sort of “Eleanor” recreation. As in, replicating the paint scheme, side pipes, wheels and using a similar front bumper, grille, and hood to the Eleanor Mustang from the newer version of Gone in 60 Seconds. I always loved that car, but owning one is way out of the question for financial reasons. My reason for choosing a Fairlane to use for this act of possible lunacy is that my family was given one that was in very rough shape when I was about 14. I fell in love with that car instantly, even though it never ran or even rolled while in our possession. It is long since gone, but I had always dreamed of fixing that car up to the description you read above. So my real question is, what is your opinion of such a car? Do you like the idea, or does it make you want to vomit? I thought it would be a very interesting, unique and just plain cool car when completely finished. If you don’t like the idea, do you have any others as to how I could go about making a unique Fairlane? Thanks in advance for your input!
Trust me, if I end up doing that, I’m going to nitpick every single little seemingly insignificant detail until it is absolutely perfect! It won’t be my car exclusively, (although I’ll end up driving the most) but a car that my father and I will work together on building. It’s been a dream for years now, and I’d love to do it. Plus, it’s not gonna end up looking like a Fairlane with a Mustang front and rear glued onto it. I wanna keep it so that it is instantly recognizeable as a Fairlane, but still have it look like that slightly more modern, resto-mod if you will, “Eleanor” style. If I knew how to use photoshop, I’d post a rendering of it, but alas, I’m no good with that stuff…
And no matter what, I want the car to be clean. Nothing too gaudy, nothing too extravagant; just a unique and special car that I can be proud of.
A: Awesome car dude. Do the Eleanor stuff. Totally cool. I just ordered an Eleanor grille for my 05 Stang. .. Cant wait till its on ….. Ford forever my friend.
Q: can i use a fox body mustang axle on my ranchero?
i have a 61 ranchero with a 5.0 efi engine out of a 92 thunderbird and a 5-speed trans out of an 83 mustang and i am looking into an axle for it. as of right now it has fords little 7.5″ axle and those wont withstand the hp. the ranchero i have came with the 144 l6 engine. i saw where people had started using a 8.8 inch rear end out of the fox body mustangs on 67 model mustangs. i want to say the width i pretty close on a 61 ranchero and a 66 stang but im not sure on the 67. i believe they were the same but not possitive. im already planning to change the ranchero to coil springs anyway. if they where close i was just going to do some fabricating to make them fit. if the axle is to wide to make work i can always use the 8″ out of the 70s maverics but i would prefer the 8.8. what are the widths of the fox body 8.8, the maverick 8″, the 67 stangs and the 61 ranchero.
A: Yes (too answer the basic question).
A inch or two wider can easily be corrected with proper back spacing of the wheels.
You will need to move/replace the spring perches no matter what as you are going to coils vs the stock leafs the Ranchero came with. Look up info on swaps made to early Falcons for more info on your project.
Have Fun (Cool ride by the way)
Q: Help Racing fuel ?
Alright So I have a 67 Mustang With a Ford 427 Sittin in my garage and I have been working on it lately… It is setup for drag racing and due to when it was put together by my dad the engine still requires leaded fuel (which racing Fuel is leaded) we have been tuning it up and stuff using regular 93 octane but I know what were doing to the inside of that engine and its killing me I am near the peoria area of Illinois does any one know where I can get 97+ octane leaded fuel for this ???
A: You can try locating a place that sells VP race fuel… such as link below in sources section:
Also another place you may want to try is local small airports.

the owner said he is pulling 12s easily on the track but never told me if it was ever dyno’d i just want to see if the timing he’s telling is accurate
its sitting on slicks and its a automatic
i will be upgrading it to a b&m auto shifter will that help the cars use of performance more?
not an expert on mods but im purchasing a 95 mustang with a whole bunch of mods just looking for an estimate of how much horses this is pulling with this set up please let me know thanks!!!
A: Well I can guess at it. But it varies from car to car. I would simply pay to have it dynoed.
I would guess a good 320 horses and maybe 360 torque.
The time would seem reachable for a good driver with good reaction time. it would be high 12s though not low 12s.
Q: looking into buying a new car?
hey i currently have a 67 mustang, and a 06 grand caravan. were looking to replace the 00 dodge stratus with a new car. might get a new mustang so i have 2, but i’m looking into other cars first. were looking into american cars like GM cars, ford cars (incuding the other brands under the ford motor company) and Chrysler (also cars under the crysler name) i was just looking at the volvo S40 because it looks like a good deal, and a bunch of others. i’m looking for a sedan or a coup (no hatch back) within the 20,000 to 30,000 range, v6 or higher, 5 seats, and safe. long lasting (if you don’t have anything good to say about american cars just don’t bother commenting.) yes i know volvo isnt technicaly american, but whatever. give me your oppinion of which is the best value/quality/long lasting. also feel free to use car talk i know all there is to know about cars, just wondering what others oppinions are
A: Of the big 3, Ford is by far the best for quality and reliability.
Have heard good reports on the “new” ( 09-10 ) Taurus, altho I feel the pricing is kinda high.
Volvo is owned by Ford,
Q: thoughts on this car? i’m thinking about buying it.?
