Q: How much does a 1967 Ford Mustang cost?
A fastback, to be exact. My dad used to have this car before it was wrecked and always loved driving with him when I was a kid. Now I want this car for myself, but can’t seem to find it. I live in NYC, but am willing to travel for one wherever common.

But if found in NYC, where can I go for one, and what’s the average price tag for this classic beauty?

A: that is a very popular car, and even the beaters are expensive, a driver starts at $10k and up from there.. blame it on Eleanor ..

check all the classifieds and don’t forget ebay, even the parts section for parts cars and projects..

Q: looking for a used 1964-1967 (any one of these years) ford mustang for $500-$1500 in running condition?

A: omg if it is running, it is not going to be $500-1500 unless it was fished out of a lake ar hit by a train or something

Q: 1967 Ford Mustang Restoration?
Does anybody know of an excellent place to get a 1967 Ford Mustang fully restored? It’s a coupe with a rebuilt stock 289 (though i wouldn’t mind a bigger engine). Car has original interior…one hole the size of a dime in the back seat and the front seats have faded to a pink from red. Carpet needs to be replaced due to window leaks. One side mirror (i was told it only came with one). Deck Lid replaced as well as the bottom of the trunk…a hole rusted through (about the size of baseball) due to the leaking deck lid. And a paint job! The last people we got to paint it let a bunch of college students paint it…need i say more…I will anyways. There is about 7 inches of paint chipped off along the top of the drivers door. The paint has bubbles in it on one spot on the hood and roof. However, The bubbling around the “Mustang” on the edge of the trunk lid is horrible. The passenger side makes my car an “ustang” I still have the “M” But the guy who fixed that as well as the back quarter panels Screwed that up so even if i was to put the “M” back on it would be extremely crooked. When that guy put the back quarter panels on he used rivets and you can see them through the paint. I won’t even begin to talk about the motor, but I will say that it runs. I am able to drive it from home to work with no problems and it spinns a damn good wheel at red lights. But as much work as this car needs i won’t get rid of it. My grandpa bought it for my mom back in ‘85. It was her first car and she kept it (though it sat for about 8 years) and gave it to me as my first car. It’s my dream to have it restored because she’s been trying to do it for nearly 25 years. Besides that, Mustangs were special in my family. My mom’s oldest sister’s first car was a 1965 mustang coupe that my older brother now owns (and it needs a lot more work than mine) My mom had this 1967 Mustang and her younger sister had a 1971 Mustang whose motor is now in my brother’s 1965. So as you can see, this is a very special car and i need someone who can do the job right the first time and knows what they’re doing.

A: It’s going to cost big bucks to restore it, I would look around for a good restoration shop in your area to do the job and do anything you can do yourself to save money, your best bet is to go to some car shows and start asking people who have nice cars there who they would recommend taking it to.

Q: 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe Pricing?
I’m looking to buy a 1967 Mustang Coupe from a private seller. I’ve talked to the guy a lot and I’m really excited about getting it, however I know there are people that know a deal when they see it better than I do. And, the description.

The good:

- Brand new all leather interior
- Aftermarket Cd player and new speakers.
- Rebuilt 302 engine (used to be a 289)
- I test drove it, this thing runs like butter (that’s in the good kind of drives like butter)
- Paint job had only very minor scratches and dings

The bad:

- Small amount of rust on the bumper (easily replaceable), exhaust tips and about a 4-5 inch rust spot on the passenger side body on the very bottom of the car. Nothing major or even very noticeable
- Needs all new weather stripping and trunk needs to be re-carpeted
- Brakes are original and will need a little bit of work.

I would just like some idea’s on how much that should run for. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

A: I would have someone who knows “old Mustangs” who lives close by go with you. There are areas on these cars that are very prone to rust problems and unless you know where to look, can seem fine until you start restoration. Some of the areas are the cowl, frame rails, torque boxes, floor pans and lower quarter areas. I suspect the interior isn’t leather either. It is most likely naugahyde. I suggest contacting a local Mustang club for help. Good luck

Q: 1967 coupe ford mustang worth?
The car is not running now, but I have overhauled the engine. I think it is just from non-use and needs minor adjustments. the body is in excellent shape.

A: Depends on what engine- like a 6 or a 351 w/ 4 spd or whatever. also depends on body/rust/ interior, etc. I would say from 2k up

Q: would a trany from a mustang fit a 1967 ford f100?
i have a 1967 ford f100 with a 390(auto) and wanted to do an engine swamp with a 5.0 from 85 ranchero (use to be ful injected) would a 85 to 87 auto trany from a mustang fit the truck and engine ???
its a 75 ranchero not 85

A: yes you will need a big sledge hammer though, and it will not be useable

Q: 67 mustang and cougar parts?
I’m restoring a 67 Cougar Xr7 And I’ve use a lot of 67 Mustang parts for it. Now I’m in need of a Dash and I’m not sure if it well work, Dose any one Know if a 1967 Ford mustang Dash well pop in a 67 Mercury cougar?

I would like to know so I can order one or not
Many Thanks!

A: the cougars and mustangs used different dashes. The mustangs had the “scooped” inserts, while the cougars had a straight pad on them. If you swapped the whole dash frame and everything, it should work, and you will have something unique.

If you already have the frame and just need the cap, Mustangs Unlimited sells the cap for the Cougars. They also have a free Cougar catalog that I recommend.

Q: What was the official year of the Ford 302 engine?
I would like to know if any of the Ford buffs know the correct year of the Ford 302 engine? Some backwoods, backyard, idiot on here insist it came out in 1967! I owned a 1969 Mustang fastback that had the Cobra 428 but to my knowledge the 289 was the only available engine in 1967! I know from my research that Ford prototyped a 302 in 1968 as a test for mass production to be used in the 1969 Mustangs. Does anyone have any information which they can give me a website or whatever to confirm otherwise? I would appreciate the input so as to put this issue to rest! I have gone to all the auto parts websites and there is NO 1967-68 listings for 302 parts!

A: 1968 – 302
1969 – Boss 302

Q: Where would be the best place?
to find a affordable 1967 ford mustang manual fastback? I am wanting something that needs restoration but drives well enough to use and I am willing to pick up anywhere in USA. I was talking to a friend a while back and she said there is a town in North Texas that sells a lot of restoration needing old vehicles for cheap… Dont remember what town she said and I cant not get in contact with her… Any suggestions?

A: Maybe eBay, but it depends on what you mean by affordable. These are expensive cars.

Q: 1967 heads for a 289 ford will i need to change the valve seats to compensate for the fuel we use today.?
i just purchased 289 heads from a 67 mustang engine. will they be fine with the gas we use today

A: i assume the heads you purchased were used. not a new replacement high performance head. it would be a good idea to have a valve job done now. you should send the cylinder heads to a machine shop and have them install “hardened” valve seats as part of the machine work they will do.

Q: what muscle car would be a better project car?
i was thinking about starting my own project muscle car but i dont know what car to use…which of these would u pick or do u have any other pick?

1971 chevrolet monte carlo,
1970 dodge charger,
1967 or 69 ford mustang fastback,
1970 chevrolet chevelle,
1969 camaro SS,
1970 dodge challenger,
1990 ford mustang 5.0
1969 Pontiac GTO,

or do you have any ideas?

thanks
i forgot the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner

A: All of your suggestions are good prospects. It really depends on what you like best – personally, I like the ‘69 and ‘70 Mustang fastback (sportsroof per Ford). These are easily left stock or cloned into Boss or Mach 1 models.

Q: Best guide/manual for overhauling/repairing Ford 302 V8..?
I own a 1967 Mustang Fastback with a 302 V8. I don’t know a lot about engines and overhauling them, but I am going to remove my engine and learn as much as I can about it, while in the process of overhauling it.
I’ve been trying to find a guide or handbook (Haynes??) which will explain every detail of overhauling a 302. What’s the best one out there to use..??
Thanks for your time :)
Cheers, Richard. haynes seems the way to go. My dad is an auto-body repairer, and my 2 best friends work on engines for a living, so they are doing all the work, but I’ll be there every minute of it, studying each section of the job the night before we work on it, so I know whats involved. I might not DO the work myself, but I’ll learn about it as it’s done, and anything I do will be overseen by a pro. Yay!!
Awesome, Chris..!! I live in Australia, so would I have to go through a Ford dealer in the U.S., or can I go through a local dealer and have him trace it for me..?? Thanks :)

A: I work for Ford for 28 years and that guy says the Haynes manual..lol. Ford makes an actual book for each engine it ever made. Call your ford dealer and tell them your engine code and what it is out of and they will give you a number and I.D. the correct book for your engine. It will have every detail of everything on the cars engine and all details of taking the engine in and out and anything else ever you need done to your car you will now know because you have an actual book for your car not an aftermarket knock off like chilton or haynes. Trust me im right on this. And buy american.
